Movement of Jah People
Music and Culture are important parts of the great value that the Rastafari movement brings to the world. Mainly Reggae Music is a vehicle for Rastafarians to spread their message of peace, love, and consciousness. Nowadays, Reggae is a global subculture that has brought forward many established musicians, record labels, and festivals.
All over the world Reggae festivals draw tens of thousands visitors and up to today it is growing in numbers and significance.
But in recent times it sometimes seems that people tend to forget that the main inspiration of Reggae music is the Rastafari faith. It was the spiritual calling of Rastafari that inspired famous Reggae musicians like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, Burning Spear, and many others. Without Rastafari, Reggae Music would have never come into existence.
Rastafari was what inspired people like Bob Marley to play Reggae Music
Considering the importance of Ethiopia for the Rastafari faith, and Rastafari as the seed of conscious Reggae Music, we believe Ethiopia could be the center of the Reggae music scene in Africa. To accomplish this, our mission is to organize Reggae festivals and related cultural events in Ethiopia. In February 2018 we organized our first events which were the U Day festival in Addis Ababa, and The Great Ethiopian Sound System festival at Lage Langano. We are planning new events for late 2018 and beyond.
U Day Ethiopia
In February 2018 we were involved in organising the U Day festival, through our parent company The Ethiopia Experience. U Day is a traveling event that is aimed at celebrating unity among the religions and spiritual movements in the world. We organised a tour to Addis Ababa, Lalibela, and Shashamane for a group of more than 60 people, and two music events in Addis Ababa and Shashamane.
