Ilahful greetings on this holy day! 127 years ago, on July 23rd, or by the Ethiopian calendar, Hamle 16, Emperor Haile Selassie I was born in the hills of Ejarsa Goro... It is said that his mother, Yeshimabet Ali, travelled for three days on the back of a donkey to give birth to Tafari Makonnen.
The birth of the King was prophesied by many Orthodox priests and even important Muslim leaders from Harar. When He was born, the constellation of the stars were going through changes. Ethiopia was going through a heavy drought at the time, but the birth of His Imperial Majesty summoned the rain.
At the age of 14, H.I.M. was crowned governor of Harar, and given the name RasTafari. On November 2nd, 1930, He was crowned Emperor of Ethiopia and given the titles King Of Kings, Lord Of Lords, Conquering Lion Of The Tribe of Judah, and the name Haile Selassie, which translates as Power Of The Trinity.
He will forever be our glorious King, and today, we give praises to the crown!
InI wish a blessed earthstrong, Melkam Lidet, and a joyous day of celebration to all Jah Children, worldwide & universally. Let us come together and chant in the name of Negus Nagast, ilberating 127 years on this physical planet! JAH! RASTAFARI!
