U DAY II: Land of Origins
29 January - 8 February: Ethiopia
U DAY II
After a succesful first edition in Thailand, Ethiopia has been chosen to host the second editon of the U DAY festival. U DAY is a traveling spiritual music festival aimed at celebrating unity among religions and spiritual movements. Ethiopia is chosen to host the 2018 edition because of its unique standing in the world regarding religious tolerance; all world religions are represented in Ethiopia, and they live together in peace and harmony. In the morning of 3 February 2018 there will be a formal session at the African Union Headquarters and from the late afternoon onwards a music festival will be organized in the city, which will feature world class artists. After the event in Addis, the festival will travel south to the town of Shashamane, 250 km from Addis Ababa, where another event will be organized together with the Jamaican / Ethiopian singer Sidney Salmon. This event will take place on the 6th of February, which is Bob Marley's birthday, and will also be a fund raiser for the local school.
UN World Interfaith Harmony Week
The festival is held in the context of the United Nations World Interfaith Harmony Week, an official annual worldwide celebration proclaimed by the general assembly of the United Nations in 2010. We are expecting to host leaders from all kinds of religious denominations to display a message of peace and hope to the world.
